Here at Sirin Software we offer two types of delivery models; these are Managed Research & Development (R&D) and Dedicated Team (DDT).
Unlike project management methodologies (Waterfall or Agile) that regulate communication within a team, provide an outline for a project and specify the means by which customers’ goals will be achieved, delivery models are focused on vendor-to-client communication. Through the Managed R&D model, we appoint a Project Manager from our side. The PM then acts as an intermediary between our customer and his remote developer team and translates the customer’s needs into technical requirements. Thus, he makes sure the customer receives deliverables on time and on budget.
With the Dedicated Team model, it is our customers who manage their remote employees directly or trust the task to their in-house PM. They are free to conduct daily stand-ups with the development team, implement certain project management software, review code and prioritize tasks on the scope.
Which delivery model should you choose? At the end of the day, it all depends on your objectives and the expertise of your in-house IT department (if you have one, of course).
With Managed R&D, you can devote 100% of your time and efforts to sales and marketing, while our developers will handle the tech part under the guidance of a skilled Project Manager.
One of our customers, for example, wanted to develop embedded software and a web-based admin console for a custom 3D scanner. He intended to present the gadget at a technology conference and contacted another vendor at first. However, the company produced low-quality code; as the deadline was approaching, the customer had no other choice but trust the project management and execution to our PM and focus on business activities instead.
The DDT approach, on the other hand, works best for customers who need an extension of their in-house team and possess the resources and expertise to manage remote employees.
